At the Gerlach Water Tower Park you’ll find an iconic bright red, 30-foot tall, water tower built from redwood. The tower holds 44,000 gallons of water and was originally built in 1909 to supply water for railroad locomotives and the town, but it fell into disrepair and ceased use in 1953. The tank was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, and with help from Burning Man, the Ladies Auxiliary raised funds to restore the tower to its former glory in 2006.
In addition to the water tower, the park also features shade, picnic benches, and barbecues.
